About the Book
An inward journey, across the ages. A tale both simple and complex, of childlike wonder and quiet depth. Follow fire and light through history... and discover where our story ends. Woven with hardship, healing, and hope, this strange and visionary tale gently reminds us of the immense responsibility that accompanies our power... and that when we choose to share our light, we can illuminate the world.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a story for both children and adults (ages 6 and up). However, please note that there are several childlike drawings of war throughout the book. The intention is for readers, young and old, to reflect on the responsibility that comes along with our inner power... because the next chapter of Planet Earth, for better or for worse, is ours to forge.Read moreReview"This book reminds me of that cute little internet meme that consists of a piece construction paper cut into a star that says the words I am a star because... In crayon, a child has written, I just am. Kids are amazingly perceptive and highly sensitive individuals. This book not only acknowledges that fact, but also fosters it. It doesn't play dumb or mince words with the reader. It speaks to a child in a way that says I see you. And that, my friends, is how we can best support the next generation. By witnessing them and allowing them to feel their feelings and speak their truth. I love this book!"

"This story reminded me that it's ok to make mistakes. I fall and get back up. I am constantly growing and learning. I create and destroy but strive to become better than yesterday. I have all of the power I need inside of me, always. I love this story. It is an empowering tale that reminds the reader of the real strength within them. This book doesn't use fake gimmicks to make you feel like you can do great, it genuinely reminds you that you are greatness."

"I have this book on my coffee table and my friend saw it. As she read it, she asked where she could buy it from. Since I'm a fan of John's books, I had two copies. I told her she could have my extra copy of Tale by Fire. Her eyes teared up, to my surprise, as she shared how much of a struggle it was to get her son to read and how this was the perfect book for him. Her son is in 4th grade and is a unique, free spirited boy. It was a fight to get him to read books filled with words and no pictures. This book was perfect, not only in the message, but in the engaging illustrations. Now the struggle is gone- he reads this book every night before bed."
